Did you know?
- The Foundation supported the campaigns and recent building openings of Prentice Women’s Hospital at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, and the Language Arts and Media Center at Chicago Youth Centers’ new Centro Nuestro.
- The Chicago Lighthouse for Children Who are Blind or Visually Impaired hosted
its first Braille Challenge for the Illinois region on February 23, 2008. This
event included 28 children from grades 1-12 who demonstrated their skills in a series of five contests: Braille reading and comprehension, speed and accuracy, spelling, proofreading and tactile graphics.
- Lawrence Hall Youth Services hosted the grand opening of its new Residential Treatment Center on February 23, 2008. The Center houses 48 youth as part of LHYS’ Residential Treatment Program for children with emotional and psychological problems. The Center contains the McCormick Tribune Medical Clinic which serves the residents, as well as 100 children in the Therapeutic Day School. The Foundation made a $500,000 investment in this new facility in December 2005.
